Jarlesheim definitely geographically corresponds to Maine. It seems that New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut geographically correspond to Wildedge. Grandmark would geographically correspond to New York, it seems.

An expedition, mounted from Grandmark, is said to have discovered a tribe, or, in some tales, a kingdom of sasquatches. The sasquatches are really the remnants of a lost tribe of time-travelling Jews from Phillistia. To this day, they scare the local human tribes into giving them smoked salmon && giant goat cream cheese. Note that only one member of the Grandmark expedition returned, raving, disheveled, and, quite mad. There is no proof of his story, but it is an entertaining one, nonetheless. (Thanks: vondan) Note: It is said that the tribe suffered some kind of a Divine Curse, or, an ancient curse, for some unknown transgression, and, this is what turned them into sasquatches.

Trade"Centuries before Euro-American penetration of the Far West, Native Americans had established networks of trails and trade relationships. Prized trade commodities such as marine shells, obsidian, and turquoise were located hundreds, and in some cases, thousands of miles from their origins."

It is likely that there are open gates to the Para-Elemental Plane of Magma here. Travellers have been warned. (Thanks: atherton)

Giant badgers are found in the area that would correspond to Wiseconsin, and, local natives refer to this as: "The Land of the Badgers." The center of The Land of the Badgers is Lake Gygax, a beautiful place said to be the home of giant gar, and, prehaps, nixies as well. There is a castle built there, built by White adventurers from Aeropa, which is a kind of trading outpost. Construction of other castles and fortified dwellings is underway, sold at princes of a most Xtorbitant Nature. Although this is a wild and dangerous area, several tribes converge here during the early summer, for the festival known as... "GaryCon" (sorry, I am having trouble coming up with creative names right now, at the moment. GleepWurpCON just didn't seem to cut it.) Anyway, back to the giant badgers. Basically, they do not trouble anyone, and, no-one troubles them. They're basically badgers, except that they are giant badgers. If you're that fucking stupid to put your hand in a badger hole, I don't know what to say to you, other than... you get what you deserve. Never mess with a badger, including the giant variety. (In Afrik, I've seen a normal badger castrate a lion, for real). Wiseconsin, St. Prespos

The black bear is found throughout Vargaard, though, in the Pacific Northwest, a place of great mystical beauty, there is to be found the spirit bear, which is related to the black bear. This animal is considered to be VERY sacred among the natives of that region. According to some Native beliefs, the bear is the animal that is closest to the Human race, and, the Great Spirits (the Manitoulin) cursed Bear for an unknown transgression, and, some of her children became human. So, humans are basically a devolved form of bears, kicked out of the Garden of Eternity, for some kind of a transgression against the gods. The truth of this myth is unknown. Spirit bears are a rare sighting, but the black bear is well-known for its' curiosity and hunger. They will invade campsites with no hesitation, not aggressively, but, simply foraging for food. Wise adventurers do not leave food out in the open: this is just asking for trouble. That said, they are an annoyance, not deadly and aggressive like the grizzly bear of Aleyska.

Giant beavers are found in northern Vargaard, and it is said that they engage in trade with the local Native tribes. As a matter of fact, the name for "giant beaver" translates to "great builder" in several Native dialects. Beavers create ponds: giant beavers create lakes. In lejend, it is said that the 7 Great Lakes were made by the 7 Great Beavers who live on the back of the Great Turtle.

Casa Loma is surrounded by a great circular garden. Axe beaks roam the outer garden, a place of great beauty and great deadliness. Within Casa Loma itself, it is rumored that there is The Closet of Prespos. Fabulous tales are told about this place, said to be a circular tesseract... that one can find everything from cave bears, to Cleopatra herself within this strange and mysterious place. Of course... these are surely just stories...?

To the north of the Iroukian lands is the tower of Elianka the Witch-Queen, simply known as the Witch-Queen. Lejends say that she is immortal, and, that all who look upon her face are doomed to die. Further lejends say that she came from beyond the stars, and, exists upon this Aerth for a reason unknown to mortals. Lejends aside, the Dark Tower does exist: it is a strange blend of both Aeropean and Chinsungese architecture. None who have entered it have ever returned alive. Most never make it to the tower, as the lands surrounding it are lands of extreme peril. It is said that the tower is warded against the very gods, themselves. Sages believe that the Witch-Queen has one of the Greek Titans imprisoned in the caverns that are said to exist under the tower. (Thanks: subaltari)

Somewhere near the mysterious Dark Tower (the tower of the Witch-Queen), in lands around there, can be found the giant bombardier beetles. While these are found on all continents of Aerth (excepting Antarctica), with 555 sub-species, they are especially prevalent in the unknown lands to the north-east of the seven great lakes.

Farallon Islands (US)"The sea around the Farallon Islands off the coast of San Francisco was used as a dumping site for radioactive waste. An estimated 47,500 55-gallon steel drums were discarded here, but their exact location and the risk they pose to the environment is unclear. It is also believed that attempting to remove them would cause more damage than leaving them untouched. There is also an extensive elephant seal population, which attracts scores of great white sharks." Read More: www.trueactivist.com/21-most-dangerous-islands-in-the-world-gallery/16
