The average person in Magmur accidentally eats up to 8 spiders per year, in their sleep. Since most of the spiders are deadly (like most of the fauna of Magmur), and, most of the spiders are poisonous, this significantly cuts down on the number of humans in Magmur. Another one of the 1001 reasons why colonization of this continent has never really been successful.
