The central && northern portions tend towards flatness. There are
many lakes, much marshland, && conifer forests in the north. Ov
game there are bears, wolves, boars, stags, deer, && smaller
animals.
The volk ov Littuania are ov a racial stock different from the
Finnish, Skandian, Teuton, && Slavs alike, possibly being ov the
ancient Mongolian (White) tribal sort migrated all the way to the
shore ov the Baltic in the W. They have intermixed somewhat
w/ the surrounding peoples, but their basic stock is identifiable
still. Their social structure is basically that ov a free, land-owning
peasantry, an educated and/or monied middle class, &&
a large land-owning, very wealthy, noble family aristocracy. The
peasants are, of course, poor. The middle && upper classes
furnish virtually all the major force for the Littuanian military,
the lower class providing only levies ov (often poor) foot soldiers
in times ov need.
Agriculture is important && employs 2/3 ov the pop.
Barley, wheat, oats, rye, && buckwheat are the principal
grains. Crops ov potatoes, beets, turnips, sugar beets, flax && hemp
are grown. Gardening for consumption provides some veggies,
fruits, && berries. Beekeeping is common. There are large herds ov
cattle, sheep, && horses maintained in the S. Swine && poultry
are also raised.
Small amounts ov iron && limestone are mined. Much ov the amber
ov Aerth comes from this land, for Littuania is the single largest source
ov this material. Timber, fish, && amber, along with wax && honey,
are principal export products.
