CHARACTER CREATION
I think that I posted the BTB chargen method here, a while back. A list of 20 steps.
Now, in the Weekend AD&D group, we are working towards Uniformity, the concept espoused by Gary in the DMG's preface (page 7). All games take place in GH as well.
Please comment && criticize to your heart's content. Feel free to copy && paste it so that you can work on your own version of things. This could be a big thread, but I shall endeavor to answer all questions.

2. Choose race and class PH, UA
3. Circumstances of birth UA p83
4. Birthplace (Greyhawk) SUGGESTION: Is this the Boxed set? Should we provide a listing of likely birthplaces?
5. Abilities: Method I for demi-humans. If one does not meet class minimums, then go back to step 2. Method V for humans. SUGGESTION: Use tables from Dragon 129, 140 for Demihumans.
6. Alignment.
7. Deity - from Greyhawk. Can be discussed with DM.
8. 'Personality'. Very optional: see DMG.11-12.
9. Age DMG 12-13; apply modifiers
10. Height & Weight DMG p102
11. Secondary Skill DMG p12
12. Languages PH UA
13. Check if keen-eared DMG p60
14. Check for psionics PH p110+
15. Magic items (see Appendix P) SUGGESTION: Heirlooms from OA instead of magic items
16. Equipment. Here, I rule that a special piece of equipment can be had for 1/2 of your starting gold (plate mail or dagger +1 or potion). T1 only: you only start with items from 15 above + any special item + a riding horse with tack && harness. Everything else must be bought in Hommlet. SUGGESTION: Roll for starting money. No specials. PH and UA
17. Magic-users and illusionists: determine your spells. SUGGESTION: Player gets Read Magic automatically and chooses from PH and UA 1 offensive, 1 defensive, 1 miscellaneous, and 1 other of her choice.
18. Note XP for next level
19. Record AC and HP and THAC0
20. Add in Goldenrod data
