As I found the last thread thouroughly enjoyable to have craft, I'll make anew with the continuing adventures of trying to field an army with less than 2 attacks a model.
What I've learned along the way is a bunch of shenaniganry about min/maxing the characters, and that you can indeed have a Bull Centaur riding a Daemon Steed.
Just remember, though, their abject beauty belies abject beauty alone.
In terms of expanding the army, that's for wusses. I have Munchkin-craft enough to not tolerate people scowling across from an anachronistically placed Whirlwind or Tenderizer, but wussily enough I'd probably force myself into a woeful proposition if I could find those light armor shield type hobgoblins. Why not eh?

...And, being the arsehole that posts his unit configs, I'm thinking a 24 man full command group sorta deal for the fuckheads, with either the unit champ taking the -1 to hit and shooting Cursed Book (static CR wins) or maybe putting that onto an affiliated hobgobliny hero. On a giant scorpion. Fuck Yeah! Aww, can't be done.
Unit Name ## Mv WS BS St To Wo In At Ld Sv Cost Hobgoblin 23 4 3 3 3 3 1 2 1 6 6/5 150.0 Standard Bearer; +1 Combat Result; Musician; +1 Combat Result if tied; Allows skirmished units to reform; Light Armor; Shield; Animosity on a 1 Hero (Hobgob) 1 4 5 5 4 4 2 4 3/5 7 X/5 152.0 Second Weapon; Two Pistols; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; One may fire every turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Heavy Armor Cursed Book All living creatures w/i 6" of bearer suffer -1 on to-hit and shooting rolls [25.0] Ruby Chalice Effects begin once bearer or unit suffers 1 wound; Enemy -2 to-hit with missiles and -1 to-hit in HtH; Effects cease when bearer killed [60.0] Total Army Cost: 302.0 Pts. Sweet.

Made a tentative list with the above unit in it, Sneaky Gits in huge formation, obligatory Dwarfs, scorpion wiz-champ, general of kickass bearing, iron claw goblins, a death rocket and a unit of the Bull Centaurs. Gotta shuffle those numbers yet!
Unit Name ## Mv WS BS St To Wo In At Ld Sv Cost Hero (Hobgob) 1 4 5 5 4 4 2 4 3/4 7 X/3 98.0 Spear; Two ranks attack if no movement; +1S on cavalry charge; Pistol; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; Fires every other turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Shield Chaos Armor Save of 4+; Wizards may cast spells [10.0] Cursed Book All living creatures w/i 6" of bearer suffer -1 on to-hit and shooting rolls [25.0] Hero (Hobgob) 1 4 5 5 4 4 2 4 3/4 7 X 128.0 Spear; Two ranks attack if no movement; +1S on cavalry charge; Pistol; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; Fires every other turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Sling; S3 hit @ Range 18"; Fires twice if no move & range <9" Ruby Chalice Effects begin once bearer or unit suffers 1 wound; Enemy -2 to-hit with missiles and -1 to-hit in HtH; Effects cease when bearer killed [60.0] Jade Amulet One use only; 2+ Special Save versus a single wound [5.0] Hobgoblin 16 4 3 3 3 3 1 2 1 6 6/5 158.0 Standard Bearer; +1 Combat Result; Musician; +1 Combat Result if tied; Allows skirmished units to reform; Light Armor; Shield; Animosity on a 1 Champion 1 4 4 4 4 3 1 3 2 6 X/5 [50.0] Light Armor; Shield Parrying Blade Enemy receives 1 less attack [20.0] Sorcerer 1 3 4 3 3 5 1 3 1/2 9 X 137.0 Level 1 Wizard; Flail; +2S in first turn of any HtH combat; Pistol; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; Fires every other turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Monstrous Mount Warrior Familiar If attacked, familiar interposes and defends; Familiar always strikes first [25.0] Warrior Familiar 1 4 5 - 4 4 1 6 2 10 X [0.0] Always strikes first Scorpion, Giant 1 5 3 - 5 4 4 1 2 7 4 [50.0] Cause Fear; Bound Monster; If both A hit, resolve @ S10 (instead of S5) Total Army Cost: 521.0 Pts. Let the above parse and liquify through your mind. My 521 point Hobgoblin unit will be undeterrable at that rate! The pair of second-rank heroes with spears are happiness-inducement. The front rank would be the footprint of the giant scorpion, the interposing warrior familiar, the champ that negates a btb attack with the parrying blade, all while the unit hopefully has -2 to be hit. Yeah! That's a good quarter of the army to have.
One more edit worth having is sticking in a worthwhile proposition of what the army general might be.
Unit Name Snuffer Jenkem 1 3 7 6 4/8 5/8 3 5 4/5 10 X/4 578.0 Usage Conflict; Units w/i 12" may use the general's Ld; Two-Handed Weap; Always strikes last in HtH; Pistol; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; Fires every other turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Heavy Armor; Shield; Monstrous Mount Gauntlet of Bazhrakk the Cruel +2 Strength; If wearer rolls a 1 to-hit, blow strikes a random friendly model in base contact [35.0] Sword of Defiance +3 Toughness [150.0] Helm of Many Eyes Wearer always strikes first in hand-to-hand combat [25.0] Lammasu 1 6 6 - 6 7 5 6 3 8 X [200.0] Fly; Cause Terror; Spells at monster or rider automatically dispelled on 4+ (not considered a Dispel attempt); Magic weapons in HtH are -1 to-hit versus Lammasu and rider Total Army Cost: 578.0 Pts. Then he'd have an aide-de-camp of like a Hobgoblin Wolf-Rider smacking people with the sword that makes them into Chaos Spawn. Cuz fuck yeah!

I think the second character outlined will be probably using the Master of Madness, but the General build will make for an interesting conversion opportunity, once I find Astragoth's Shako.
Unit Name ## Mv WS BS St To Wo In At Ld Sv Cost * Hankered Down Head (Gen) 1 3 7 6 4 5 3 5 4/5 10 X/1 298.0 Usage Conflict; Units w/i 12" may use the general's Ld; Spear; Two ranks attack if no movement; +1S on cavalry charge; Pistol; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; Fires every other turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH Daemon Steed Deamon steed as mount [50.0] Bill the Pony (Daem) 1 8 4 - 4 4 3 6 3 10 3 [0.0] Sword of Heroes Versus opponents with T5+, gives +3S on rolls to wound and does D3 wounds [60.0] Armor of Meteoric Iron Save of 2+ (includes shield) [25.0] * Yosemite Sam (HerDw) 1 3 6 5 4/6 5 2 4 3/4 10 X/4 164.0 Usage Conflict; Two-Handed Weap; Always strikes last in HtH; Two Pistols; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; One may fire every turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Heavy Armor; Shield Helm of Many Eyes Wearer always strikes first in hand-to-hand combat [25.0] Black Gem of Gnar One use only; Usable against model in base contact; Both models frozen in time until a player rolls a 6 at the start of his turn [25.0] Total Army Cost: 462.0 Pts.

Astragoth's hat is a bust, but I figure I'll just goop a living shako out of the forces of creation onto the head of some passerby to make for my army its mounted General.
There'll be screaming, true. Next up on the ducat, unless I get hauled in for gross indecency iteratives, is the prospect of dicing out and maybe even demonstrating the process of who'd win in a fight between the Dwarf player's killer dwarfs and my hobgoblins.
It'll be an epic confrontation certainly.
I currently seek Chaos Dwarf Juggernaut. Any of you lurking with one best cough it up!

Ok, so pending the arrival of the Hobgoblins enough representative to make the battle happen, I'll plop down what they'll be fighting against.
* Hero 1 3 6 5 4/6 5 2 4 3/4 10 X/4 197.0 Usage Conflict; Two-Handed Weap; Always strikes last in HtH; Pistol; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; Fires every other turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Heavy Armor; Shield Runic Weapon Rune of Parrying (x3); Negates one enemy attack of wielder's choice [60.0] Fiery Ring of Thori One use only; Usable any time during the player's turn; Creates barrier of flame 6" in front of wearer and unit; Onle enemy immune to flame may cross it; Lasts one turn [25.0] Warriors 18 3 4 3 3 4 1 2 1 9 5 355.0 Standard Bearer; +1 Combat Result; Light Armor; Shield; Hate Orcs & Goblins; Elf Grudge Runic Protection Rune of Battle (x3); Adds +1 to Combat Result per rune [75.0] Champion 1 3 5 4 4 4 1 3 2 9 X/5 [71.0] Light Armor; Shield Parrying Blade Enemy receives 1 less attack [20.0] The Summaritive point being, negating 4 attacks in front rank and having a 4x5 unit formation with a +7 combat resolution to start with. It's awful though, 552 point Dwarf unit! Ahhh! Here's their foes, the Hobgoblins lead by a Scorpion wizard!
Sorcerer 1 3 4 3 3/4 5 1 3 1/2 9 X 138.0 Level 1 Wizard; Halberd; Pistol; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; Fires every other turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Monstrous Mount Warrior Familiar If attacked, familiar interposes and defends; Familiar always strikes first [25.0] Warrior Familiar 1 4 5 - 4 4 1 6 2 10 X [0.0] Always strikes first Scorpion, Giant 1 5 3 - 5 4 4 1 2 7 4 [50.0] Cause Fear; Bound Monster; If both A hit, resolve @ S10 (instead of S5) Hero (Hobgob) 1 4 5 5 4/6 4 2 4 3/4 7 X/5 177.0 Spear; Two ranks attack if no movement; +1S on cavalry charge; Two-Handed Weap; Always strikes last in HtH; Pistol; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; Fires every other turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Heavy Armor Ruby Chalice Effects begin once bearer or unit suffers 1 wound; Enemy -2 to-hit with missiles and -1 to-hit in HtH; Effects cease when bearer killed [60.0] Chalice of Darkness Use at start of magic phase, after WoM cards are dealt but before any spells are cast; Roll D6 and remove that number of WoM cards from each side; If not enough cards, must surrender spell cards to make up the difference; For each spell surrendered, bearer suffers 1 wound on a 4+ (no armor saves) [50.0] Hobgoblin Warriors 17 4 3 3 3 3 1 2 1 6 6/5 169.0 Standard Bearer; +1 Combat Result; Musician; +1 Combat Result if tied; Allows skirmished units to reform; Light Armor; Shield; Animosity on a 1 Champion 1 4 4 4 4 3 1 3 2 6 X/5 [55.0] Light Armor; Shield Cursed Book All living creatures w/i 6" of bearer suffer -1 on to-hit and shooting rolls [25.0] 484 points for a Hobgoblin unit! Yuhss. This unit's formation? Well, you'll have to guesss for yourself, but this action of War Floor Trayhammer shall be intense! ly unfair for the Hobgoblins!

Some are here, but in the meantime I ruminate.
The builds of infantry units are better in the lambasted 4th and 5th, along with everything else. Me and broheim used to sweep tourneys in the retard-proof 6th, by going all cavalry in what can best be otherwise described as Blandhammer, 6th. I know I usually espouse such systemic blanching of everything, but I don't need a points-based competitive game to actively ruin my Chaos Lords on Manticores. That's for the smug retaliatory (and theoretical) satisfaction of morons who've been pandered at until they walk around sandwich boarding among themselves with "BiG BLOCKS OF TROOPS" insignia most fervently on their mind.
It's like that time I played a 2vs2 game of 6er there, I think it was me and bud's GF as Chaos versus two O&G dudes. My Chaos Exalted Champion waded into the Orc Big Uns with his overpriced Berserker Sword, his Juggernaut and his Enchanted Shield (points cap reached) and annihilated like 7 duders, breaking the unit and sending one of the foemen's generals off the board on his chariot. The game itself devolved into the three other players in the guy's parents' basement standing in a semicircle shrieking at me about how totally unfair it is for such a thing to be feasible.
Comparitively, the 5th edition rank and file, whilst adorable for being there still, would crushificate their later iterations, being that such later variants are sapped of all glamour.
7th was like 6th but with shittier lists and no lap around and no mercenaries. How'd that fucking sell lol
8th was too shit so Slaanesh commited suicide and now the setting's stuffed up a macrocosmic rat's ass.
I've only engaged in one tentative full-on game of being Chaos Dwarfs, though, and the rank and file do seem quite an interesting bunch. Just gotta make sure I can attend with the extra vectors incorporated into delectable ol' 5th.
This may be the proving grounds of my unit of Hobgoblins FULL POWER next post, but for now

I know, I was leaning on pictorially demonstrating some hot Dwarf-on-Hobgoblin action, but in the meantime, here's an assembled series of bits from which I intend to create a good General for my Chaos Dwarfs. Not pictured is the spear, his battleplan papers, or the sword. It'll be the one that will make the Shako look like it's being tipped. I know it sounds a trifle dry to want to change the names from Hankered-Down Head and Bill the Pony, fuck! It's gonna be such a neat army.

Here is Hankered Down Head, sans epoxy. He'll be holding a customary Chaos Dwarf buckler in his left hand, I reckon.

I've got the woeful prospect of battling Grom the Paunch of Misty Mountain's host at a 1000 point game slated.
The forces I've opted on as of now are the obligatory Warriors, a bolt thrower, a rocket, the hobgoblins (yet to finish getting the whole unit btw) and some iron claw goblin spearmen. There'll be my Wizard Riding a Giant Scorpion thereof. His Warrior Familiar is a 1/72nd scale Black Watch as yet.
I'm still fancying at which paint scheme to apply to my Blunderbussers.

Got a game coming up this Sunday. My army's gonna be the horseguy, blunderbusses x18 if they come in time, 16 goblin spearmen, 14 warriors w/ standard of shielding, a wizard, a bolt thrower and a death rocket.
Bud's army's gonna be Grom the Paunch leading 102 other goblins and orcs. Two to one outnumbering? There'll be netters and doublehander goblins with ASF. Hmm...

Got the armies out to touch up and maybe even paint. If. All the units but the 4e Spearmen have champions...the Orcs' Middle Finger banner is the doubles rank bonus Banner of Defiance. Gonna convert the Clubber champion to have a squig. Nightmarishly enough, I'm so very outnumbered and it seems like my units are hardly any better. Fucking Orcs & Goblins...gonna be plotting some hard strategies. Here's some music. Gonna try and make some accompanying tunage to make the game flow nice and smooth.

Here's my 1k list at present with attendant fluff notes!
Unit Name ## Mv WS BS St To Wo In At Ld Sv Cost * Hankered Down Head (Gen) 1 3 7 6 4/6 5 3 5/6 4/5 10 X/3 239.0 Usage Conflict; Units w/i 12" may use the general's Ld; Spear; Two ranks attack if no movement; +1S on cavalry charge; Two-Handed Weap; Always strikes last in HtH; Handgun; S4 hit @ Range 24"; Extra -1Sv; Cannot move & fire; Full turn to reload; Two-rank firing formation; Pistol; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; Fires every other turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Shield; After his fraulein made way, Bill the Pony became a wanderer. There when he found his way to the scenic pastures of the strange borderlands granted to his tract, he imbibed the world to his eye, ending the Age of Sigmar to his content. Then, Hankered Down Head, a recently promoted artillererist, eschewing his notes granted himself the indignity of imbibing his own Napoleonic background as he and Bill the Pony rode off into the fell twilight. Daemon Steed Deamon steed as mount [50.0] Bill the Pony (Daem) 1 8 4 - 4 4 3 6 3 10 3 [0.0] Copper Sigil Sword +1 Initiative [5.0] Armor of Fortune Save of 5+; If armor save failed, gives a 5+ Special Save [15.0] Neo the College Magic Drinker (Sorc1) 1 3 4 3 3/5 5 1 3 1/2 9 X/4 73.0 Level 1 Wizard; Two-Handed Weap; Always strikes last in HtH; Pistol; S4 hit @ Range 6"; Extra -1Sv; Fires every other turn; +1A @ S4 in HtH; Neo here drank his way to being a wizard and left his Norsca home to seek more esoteric brew, sidling up alongside his fell kin so as to implode varied foemen that he thinks are as all goblins. Chaos Armor Save of 4+; Wizards may cast spells [10.0] * The Glamming Killers (Warr) 14 3 4 3 3/5 4 1 2 1 9 4/3 235.0 Usage Conflict; ^; Standard Bearer; +1 Combat Result; Two-Handed Weap; Always strikes last in HtH; Heavy Armor; Shield; The given debauchery these Dwarfs have is as the pining, compulsively granted to them by the glorific oil they maintain their armor in, intermingled with the blood of their foemen. Standard of Shielding Unit receives +1 on all Saves, or a Save of 6+ if no armor to begin with [25.0]
The Slavering Wanderlusts (Blun) 18 3 4 3 3 4 1 2 1 9 5 252.0 Blunderbuss; Firing zone extends 12" directly in front of unit; Roll to-hit with BS upon each model in zone and ignore modifiers except cover; Hits at S3 +1/rank (max S5); Maximum 1 wound per model in zone unless Concentrated Fire; For Concentrated Fire at one target, roll one to-hit for each dwarf model in front rank; Stand and Fire treated as Concentrated Fire with no -1 to-hit; Heavy Armor; A grizzled pack of yet-unproven latecomers to the field of war, the Slavering Wanderlusts grant outwards their yearning to see dead people. The Seekers of the Berserker Sword (Gob) 12 4 2 3 3 3 1 2 1 5 X/6 42.0 Spear; Two ranks attack if no movement; +1S on cavalry charge; Shield; Animosity on a 1 (unless hobgoblins present); Ignore fleeing hobgoblins; Fear Elves unless they out-number by 2:1; These Goblins of the Iron Claw tribe are as yet seeking their champion, who is said to be yowling the far ridges in a vulgar mix of himself, the Berserker Sword, and the ridge itself. The Entreater of Angles (Rock) 1 - - - - 7 3 - - - 5 75.0 Roll artillery and scatter dice for deviation; Range 48"; Targets suffer S5 hit for D3 wounds; Heavy Armor; Such an oblique fathom of bazooka is this, that no one knows when or how it has arrived on the field of war. Dwarf Crew 2 3 4 3 3 4 1 2 1 9 X [0.0] Hackneyed Ad Hoc (Bolt) 1 - - - - 7 3 - - - X 42.0 Range 48"; Single shot @ S5 -1/rank for D4 wounds (no save); The 4 Hobgoblins attendant the field are relegated via savagery to mindlessly tending their charge, a pair of bolt throwers. Here's my lovely Blunderbussen with the Despoilers of the Dark Lands hobgoblins in the background. It's been an enjoyable process applying paint to these fellows. I was scheduled to play a game last Sunday, but it fell through. Which means I didn't have to go without the Blunderbuss Dwarfs at least....

The foremost models exhibit my current 1k list. Painted the Bull Centaurs last night, and there's Hankered Down Head, assessing his troops. I've been shuffling points exhaustively, and I think this is the optimal list at that points range for taking on all comers. It's regrettable on behalf of the 11 Chaos Dwarf melee unit, and Hankered himself is kitted with as much of the mundane weaponry as practical, including a pistol and a handgun he can alternate between. His 3 items are the Dark Sword, which negates 1 WS and BS point whenever it lands a wound on a foeman-perfect for laying varied quarry inert, the 15 points as well heavy armor piece that gives a 5+ special save, and the Steed itself, granting my general its movement, the Fear feature, a save pip, and its own independant statline, too. I mulled a good bit over what magic weapon to include in the build, and I reckon at this points range, it's handy to be able to nick a foe beyond its wounds profile, and opted on having a magic armor save and a Special Save over some other item like a Helm of Many Eyes or a Ring of Volans or something. I've only as yet played a portion of a game with Chaos Dwarfs, but during it, regardless of my dismaying dice throwing, I did indeed land my first ever artillery guess true. I don't know how well the Chaos Dwarfs will fit my style otherwise. I've been gradually distancing myself from the other Chaos. I do know my way around that list, but I feel in other terms the Bretonnians are what jives best to my wargaming prowess. First game I landed a Major victory against High Elves, then the other 5 games I've had as yet with them were all Massacres. I might stick out Chaos Dwarfs once I get into the sway of my assessment of that army list regardless, and figure it out as I go if worst comes to worst.

As being in the midst of developing a Blockhouse over a plateau's pass, this is more developed even now than when I took the picture. The finished one will have stockades that I intend to be partially removable, there's a cave under the blockhouse currently, and the blockhouse will have a bolt thrower atop it. There'll also be a gate and a portable catwalk between the two plateaus. There's a fuckin pair of Chaos Dwarf Juggernaut-esques I scored up, as well. There'll be parking space in the courtyard of that scenery, along with such for the Tenderizer and Whirlwind. Fuck yeah. Currently building a pair of bolt throwers for my typical list to boot. Sprue and chunks of demo'd high elf chariot. Indeed.

I've a game embarking this weekend, I believe. It'll be the hitherto postponed 1k versus the Grom the Paunch army....a frightening prospect indeed. I've been focusing on tactical thinking to the Nth, because I think that the Chaos Dwarfs seem an army moreso dependant than other lists.
Current list slapped in a crop of freebooter hobgoblins with a hero to their front rank, needed the extra character and a full battleline to boot.
