According to scientific studies, prayer makes the difference between life and death, sometimes. Healing prayers are the most common form of prayer. That said, one can pray for the death of their enemies. The Ghost Dancers of the USA only prayed for the White Man to go away. That said, it is possible to pray for the death of one's enemies. Accidents happen. Revenge, Vengeance, Retribution. Life is not the opposite of Death. Vengeance, St. Prespos

Off-stage: No worries, I am not praying for anyone's death, unless they come into my territory, a part of Toronto, The Crossroads. Anyway, I hope that what I just wrote is read in the intended context: creative writing, that's all.

"Conan, do you fear the gods?"
"I would not tread on their shadow. Some gods are strong to harm, others, to aid; at least so say their priests. Mitra of the Hyborians must be a strong god, because his people have build their cities over the world. But even the Hyborians fear Set. And Bel, god of thieves, is a good god. When I was a thief in Zamora I learned of him."
"What of your own gods? I have never heard you call on them."
"Their chief is Crom. He dwells on a great mountain. What use to call on him? Little he cares if men live or die. Better to be silent than to call his attention to you; he will send you dooms, not fortune! He is grim and loveless, but at birth he breathes power to strive and slay into a man's soul. What else shall men ask of the gods?" Truly, a religion to live by.

Malc, I think he may have apoint. Pres, is that a Brom? Yes, that is Brom, one of the greatest of the TSR artists. He has a very unique style. The 1eo site is re-illustrated AD&D 1st edition. That was the image that I chose for the prayer spell: it was the best one, hands down. Also note the quote from the Christian New Testament. For several of the cleric spells, I quoted directly from the Bible, the New Testament. I intend to do the same for cleric spells that have their origins in the Old Testament. Interestingly, its a rumour that Gary denied the influence of the Judaeo-Christian with regards to the cleric spells in AD&D. Of course, I do contest such a claim: many of the cleric spells are straight out of the pages of the Bible. Anyway, here is a song called "Whisper a prayer for the dying", featuring Jimmy Page (of Led Zeppelin fame) on guitar.
