The background: The year is 1016. King Chris I ( chris107), Divine King of Albion, has decided to attack Francia. His ally, Archduke Robert of Helvetia, has attacked Savoy. Who shall prevail? To attack Francia is to engage the Gallic Treaty (Carolingian Empire) in battle. As well, Napoleon rules Francia, and, Charlemagne rules Burgundy. Albion is part of the Five Crowns Compact, so it should be able to muster help in the war against Francia. Although Albion does not have a standing army, it is renowned for the quality of it's fighting men, especially it's longbowmen, said to be some of the finest archers on Aerth! The call to muster has been sent out...! Meanwhile, the element of surprise has been lost with the invasion of Savoy: the Carolingian Empire is on high alert, moving forces to the south! The Carolingian Empire is no longer flat-footed: they are ready for war! An invasion of Helvetia is possible. Pres Ps1. FIVE CROWNS COMPACT Albion Caledonia Cymru Hibernia Lyonnesse Brettony* Flanders* * Trading compact only. Ps2. GALLIC TREATY Arles Brettony Burgduny Flanders Francia Navarre Neustria Savoy This treaty is a loose one and concerns borders, trade, and mutual defense against those outside the agreement. Ps3. Rather busy today, but I shall see if I can update with data regarding total populations of each realm. From here, it's a matter of guesstimating the % of able bodied fighting men, and, what kind of soldiers they are. It is best to use the troop categories in the DMG. Ps4. There is the matter of determining which war-god Albion might consecrate Glastonbury Abbey to. Albion is listed as a Kelltic(Celtic) realm: so, pick a Celtic deity from the DDG. (Note that the majority of these deities seem to be Hibernian in origin). Ps5. Note that both Albion && Francia have access to 17th c. technology, as a baseline!

Update: Glastonbury is being consecrated to Andraste. (cf. ceremony: consecrate ground, UA.32) Andraste is a goddess of the Icini. Pres Ps. chris107: awesome! I had feared that we would have had to use the Hibernian deities in the DDG: this is much, much better, to have an actual deity of Albion!

And what of our allies in the Danemark? Surely an invasion of surly Vikings from the North can only aid us?
