Brainstorm thread for mass combat rules for Aerth

Ok I think my basic idea is pretty sound= The battles would be between units represented by PC like characters, for simplicity sake the armies would be limited to like 3-6 units depending on size of nation. basic OD&D rules with units of regular soldiers limited to 3rd Level (only for the MOST elite of troops, with each army led by a 2-4th level character, with some exceptions. unit types would mostly be fighter ish with perhaps a bonus for type of unit(for example the pike armed Mountain Canton army would have reach allowing them to go first in melee combat) If we want to flavor it diferently we could make units 5th, 10th 15th L but I would rather see just using low level for simplicity sake, the spellcasters would get one spell for each level they have but for example a 3rd L fireball thrower would have 1 first one second and one third "L" spell. Tacticains would be treated EXACTLY like a spellcaster and EVERYBODY has to memorize.

Ok I think that sums up my idea nicely. What do we think?
