Please use this thread to post your ideas. Then, I will place them in the appropriate thread. To start: find a copy of EPIC OF AERTH, to get a feel for things. Read page 222, the most important page, IMHO. I'll start with a general overview of how the Presposia Aerth Campaign differs from Gary's canon. * Gary set a 17th c. default: I am moving things more towards the Ancient & Dark Ages, and, Swords & Sorcery. * The 'physics' of Aerth is here is based on 1e. Totally disregard this, if that is your want. * The first 7 AD&D books apply to anywhere on the planet. Some realms extend this set of possibilities. * I'll try to place everything from Dragon magazine on Earth, from OD&D to 2E. * There are spelljammer ports in Japan. * Adolf Hitler is the leader of Teutonia, with FOBs in the Inner Aerth. * Blackpowder weapons exist, and, they see much use in the Vargaardian colonies. * Cleopatra is the ruler of Aegypt. * Rasputin is in the court of Russ. * Julius Caesar is the leader of Rome, and, the Western Sea Alliance is now replaced with the Roman Confederacy. * Napoleon is the leader of Francia, and Francia is part of the Gallic Treaty. Change the Gallic Treaty to the Holy Empire. * The Atlantlan pantheon is the Melnibonean pantheon, with the addition of Poseidon, Orcus, and Belial. * Judaism, Christianity, and Islam exist, though they just began in the year 1000. (Current year = 1016). Phillistia = Jews, Rome = Christians, Yarbay = Muslims. * Julius Caesar has declared war on Islam. Troops will land on the western shore of Shamash, or, Hasur, perhaps. There is an active Crusade, which is just starting. I shall leave it at that, at the beginning: a wargame, perhaps. There is no canon, here: only possibilities, from which you must choose. Do not feel constrained by anything: here, your ideas are more important than Gary's! Origins, Prespos

With regards to a structural basis of things, start with EPIC OF AERTH, of course. From there, I'd recommend the HR (Historical Reference) series of books, by TSR, for 2E. Beyond that, various TSR materials, esp. from the 2E era, will be helpful. Here's the .pdf checklist, if anyone is interested in filling out details of the setting. * EPIC OF AERTH * Vikings * Celts * Age of Heroes (Greece) * A Mighty Fortress (Cannons & Firearms) * The Glory of Rome * Charlemagne's Paladins * The Crusades * Oriental Adventures * Al-Qadim: Oriental Adventures * Kara-Tur: The Eastern Realms * The Horde * Maztica These would be the major sources that I'm using. Now, there are other adventures, relating to the above, that I have not listed. As well, there are a LOT of 3E/d20 books that are great for providing further detail/inspiration. The over-arching idea is not historical realism, but a fun and dynamic setting that people can have fun with! I'd really like to see more in the way of dungeons, perhaps one traditional dungeon for each realm, perhaps a megadungeon. For the next year, I'll be setting up the base structure of the campaign: feel free to add in any way that you imagine. There are no wrong ideas. Prespos

Hi. Some time ago, I started up a Maximum Xcrawl campaign; a post-modern fantasy setting in a fantastic alternate Earth, where dungeon-crawlers are actually superstar athletes taking part in a live-on-pay-per-view death sport. The core nation of the setting is the North American Empire, with scant details made of the rest of the world. I decided to adapt Aerth for use to flesh out the rest of the world. And I'm still planning on using some of the world info introduced here with few modifications, since I'm going with a schizo-tech setting combining some elements of high and low tech, and plenty of magic and techno-magic.

That's really cool, and, I'd never even thought about an Aerth that somehow advanced into the modern world. In the Aerth pages, I just basically try to gather anything and everything that would be inspiration for a campaign. Although I am pretty much devoted to AD&D, I have heard that both RIFTS and GURPS have good sourcebooks, full of excellent ideas. Let me know if you have any questions about a specific region of Aerth. I'm very interested to hear about what you come up with, in your campaign. Thanks!

Orchids Reminds me of the book The Orchid Thief, which inspired Charlie Kaufman's film Adaptation. What would the RPG adaptation of this story look like? could be one of those adventures wherein a Romanesque Civilization comes into a clash with Celtic Druidry. The city-states are rapidly wiping out a species of rare orchid or other plant , which has sacred / medicinal value. A Ranger seeks to cultivate a strain which can be grown commercially, and this leads to a quest for an item, seeds, or boon of Nature herself. Maybe a little too "Star Trek" morality playish but I think it'd be good if not too black & white.

Now THERE is a proper Evil Priestess. In my settings, she would be a good, neutral or evil Priestess and/or Sorceress. (Although, she would have more cuts and henna on her.)
