About the Wynd Noble family
The Wynd family is steeped in history of the world, as the family lore goes when man was primitive there great ancestors where visited by Ki-Rin a unicorn like creature who hooves never touch the ground. Frightened by this creature the ancient clan threw down their arms and revered the creature. The Ki-Rin saw these humans as good and gave them gift on the promise that they continue to spread prosperity across the land. The first gift the Ki-Rin bestowed upon them of course the family name, a mis-translation from elemental to common for the Ki-Rin's natural element, Wind. The second gift was that every 3 generations there would be a magic user which would help bring good fortune to the Wynd name. This 'fact' is highly disputed by historians although simple geology proves that up to as long as the family kept a recorded history every third child did have magic ability. Detractors say that it's coincidental and this trend wont last forever. The third and final gift was a magic longsword named Wind Cutter made from a metal that only was recently identified as quicksilver. Historians are very interested in this family heirloom as it could be one of the earliest magic weapons as it was forged before humans could make magic weapons. Wyvern Bane as it was called by the Ki-Rin. According to family lore, Wyverns have been hunting Ki-Rin and the power the sword holds makes hunting and slaying them back easy for any human that wields it. This weapon has been passed down only to the Man of the family and few outside the sword wielder have really seen what it an do.
In modern years, the Wynd family are aristocrats, synonymous with the mills, mass producing grain to provide it for all in need in the community. Other venture capitalist/philanthropy the Wynds have been involved in includes cheap clothing, Livestock, farming equipment, metals, and low interest loans which ironically cause them to have complaints of having a dictatorial monopoly over the city as in all these areas they are selling things at far to low of a price for anyone to compete with. This complaints mostly come from outsiders as one can imagine as the town has always been quite happy with the family's unselfish action. Once upon a time, the Wynds produced a line of great adventures, however that was before they where able to supply so much of the town and where able to grow it from a farming town of 40 to the massive city it is today. For the most part, the brave and adventurous trait has been traded in for the complacency of everyday commerce.
