Magyaria
Gummint: Kingdom <17th c.>

ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ: Sigismund V, Arpad <Queen Elizabeth Bathory>
CAPITAL: Buda-Pest (Pop.: 60k)
Other Cities (and pop.):

Győr: 20k
Miskolk: 25k
Oradea: 15k
Zara: 15k
Zagreb: 20k
Loc.: Aeropa
Language: Magyar

Flag/Emblem:
Flag: A centaur with bow
drawn, mailed &&
helmed in silver, on a
red field.
<Get the flags out! - St. Ozzy>
Coinage: Italic Standard. <Gold medallion; Electrum ducat; Silver argentus; Copper florin; Bronze lira.>

&& E.
Artifacts/Relics: The Crown boasts ov the Indefatiguible Steed,
the All-Direction Bow, && the Ten Squadrons Armor remaining from
the past, and also possesses the Libram ov Root Heka.
Alignment: Chaotic Good (garaths)
Climate/Terrain: Warm temperate
Thumbnail Sketches: The country is some 60k || more sq.
mi. in xtent, && incl. all sorts ov terrain, from mountainous
borders to the N, E, && W, to the rich plain of the kingdom's
central heartland. It contains the largest plain in Aeropa (that of Pest),
many lakes (incl. the largest of the continent, Balaton), && deep
caves && caverns (as does the Banat ov Servia && Transylvania)
entering The Underdark. The country is typically temperate in
climate, aside from mountain highlands, of course, && well watered.
Some 35% or slightly more is in forest, && only 5% is
barren || marshland. Game incl. bear, wolf, great lynx,
deer, chamois<>, && all kinds ov smaller animals && birds. The verges
ov the xtensive oak forests are much used by the volk who herd
pork.
There is no doubt that the Magyars are ov Azirian origination, a
nomadic people ov true Mongolian sort (Northern White race w/
some minor mixture ov Yellow) who made their way westwards in the
tumult ov warfare on the steppes. Eventually they entered southeastern
Aeropa, && for a short time the Magyars held an empire which
included most ov what is now Dalmatia, Servia, Vlachia, Transylvania,
with Hellenes, Italics, Slavs, Tuetons, && Kells to become a distinct
sort unlike all those surrounding their kingdom. The loss ov the Banat
&& Voyvodina provinces to Servia is said to gall the Court, && the
alliances w/ Servia && Transylvania (from whom Cluj && Maramures
was long ago wrested) is one of political expediency rather than
abiding friendship.
The university in Buda-Pest is one ov the finer to be found in Aeropa.
Details ov it, && the cities which are the CAPITAL ov the Magyar
Kingdom, are too sufficiently avail. elsewhere to bear repeating
herein.
There can be little argument regarding the cooking ov this land. With
some "borrowing" from the surrounding peoples (Grecian, Italic,
Teutonic, && Slavic), the Magyars have created what must be considered
as the 4th principal cuisine ov Aerth, rivaling those ov Francia
(&& Arles), the Chingsungese, && the Italic. <goulash>
Slavery is NOT legal in the realm, but bondage for crime && debt is,
&& a small percentage ov the populace is thus ov virtual slave
status. The peasant class has no true serfs, but some # ov
villeins; however, most peasants are free && own small holdings
|| labor. Agriculture is very important to the Magyars, && much ov
the freeman class is so engaged, && in this respect it resembles
that ov Albion, for instance. It has a gentry at its upper level which
is even more conditioned to warfare && the chivalrous ascent
than most others in Aeropa. The aristocracy is wealthy, proud, &&
altogether as haughty as that ov Fran.cia, albeit NOT quite so tyrannical.
Crops ov grain are one ov the three principal wealth-producing
resources ov the land, the others being livestock && minerals.
Wheat,
maize,
rice,
barley,
oats,
&& rye are cultivated.
Tobacco,
hemp,
&& flax are ca$h crops.
Much paprika is grown, too, for internal USE && xport.
<Paprika comes from red peppers>.
Vitaculture produces both grape harvests && good wines.
Melons,
beans,
tomatoes,
&& potatoes are the outstanding garden produce.
Mulberry is cultivated for silk production,
&& orchards yield olives,
cherries,
plums,
nectarines,
peaches,
apricots,
almonds,
&& figs.
Cattle is the major form ov livestock in Magyaria, but the people also
herd pork && sheep, && produce much poultry && fowl. Some
# of apiaries are seen. The horse ov the nation are good, &&
studs for rearing ov chargers && coursers productive. Fishing is
unimportant, SAVE in the narrow coastal region.
Annual timber harvests are xcellent, && some ov the better oak is xported for
shipbuilding.
The mineral wealth ov the land is great, gold, silver, && copper in
fair quantities being foremost. Also large to moderate yields ov
antimony<>, iron, coal, zinc, mercury, asphalt, soda<>, naptha<>, nitre<>,
sulphur<>, alum, gypsum, saltpetre, cobalt, porcelain earth, && pipe
clay come from mines in this realm. Quarries produce building
stone && good marbles. Opal, both precious && common, is
produced in small quantity.
The various industries ov Magyaria are well known, but their arms &&
armor is worth mentioning again.
