Just a general thread about Richard Nixon && Henry Kissinger.
To start, i've heard that the Black Sabbath album PARANOID was originally supposed to be titled WAR PIGS, but that it was named PARANOID, so as not to offend the Nixon Administration.

Nixon founded the ending of the Cold War with his opening of China, He only got caught doing the things all politicos do, history will be very kind to him and to Kissenger

I'd like to hear things from Nixon's point ov view. It's easy for a civilian to pass judgement on certain people in history, during a time of war. Maybe Nixon was right? Who knows...? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Arc_Light

I know this: EVERY pres after Nixon consulted him on Forgn policy(Including Clinton) That is interesting. As well, Nixon wrote a book called No More Vietnams, which I'd love to read, one day.

I did not know he was consulted, or that he wrote a book. I should look that up.

No More Vietnams is listed in the bibliography for the RECON role-playing game. (i might eventually move this thread to the Other RPGs sub-forum, and, give it the RECON tag).
There is also the movie FROST / NIXON, which is worth a look, if one is interested in this period of history.

He wrote several books, the first of which being a memoir to get himself out of debt from watergate legal fees. There are a number of unexpected facts about him, such as him starting the EPA. This was a different time, the divides were there, just as deep I think, but I don't think there was anything close to the modern level of anti-science.

Nixon was a great man, and like most great men he was also deeply flawed, I admire his statesmanship, when he ran against Kennady there was every sign that the election was rigged and he was advised to contest the results in court. But he was too big a man for that and didnt want to damage the country. But you can judge a man by who he hires too. I doubt he didnt know about all the mischief his minions were up to and just participated in the cover up. A Great and yet Petty man.

Al Gore did something Richard Nixon wouldnt do:contest the results of an election. This put Bush making his admin and making policy back by months. Al Qada was on Bush and Condalesa Rice's radar as a group that needed to be delt with and quickly. They were put months behind on doing this. Think about 9/11 in those terms.

I've heard that they knew that 9/11 was coming... they just didn't know exactly when or where. Is this true?
