Preface: Here is a gurd post by Kellri. KellriAvatar of Dragonsfoot Posts: 640 Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam kellri.blogspot.ca/Classic Dungeon Designer netbook stash you can also come up with something that is not only original and creative and artistic, but also maybe even decent, or moral if I can use words like that, or something that's like basically good -Lester Bangs * * * * * Repetitive overuse is one of the big reasons I don't like 2e (or any late 80s TSR stuff TBH). Those authors had a singular talent for turning what would have sufficed as a short one-off encounter and flogging that sh*t to death. Why just have one article-length piece with an angst-ridden drow wizard when you can have an entire series of craptastic novels about him? Why just have a few sentences noting the DM's option to limit or expand PC classes as they see fit when you can have entire splatbooks spelling out in excruciating detail scores of kits? Why have a folio covering an entire continent when you can do 50,000 words about one single glade? I kind of think of that as the 'August Derleth method'. Take a single throwaway line from someone else's garbage can (or your own) and expand, expand, expand until you're left with something quite a bit less than what you started with. * * * * *
