So your premise is that 2E is where 3.XE got the idea to go overboard with options books? I think that is where they discovered that business model, during the 2E years. I'm in favor of expanding AD&D, as was done during the 1E and 2E years, but 1 rulebook a month is a little much.

I find it harder to hate the splatology with the passing years. Some, should have been combined, yes. But with my rose-colored glasses, and plain honesty, I'd rather be living in a time where AD&D and Star Trek were at their bloated zenith, ebay was a wild west, and teal was an acceptable color. Sure, minimum wage was about $4.25, I worked in Hess gas station, and did not realize the greatness of the time I was in. So the thing to take from any nostalgia is to savor the now, man. Savor the now.
