(present day)
You are in the market place buying supplys for your next journey. It is a hot, high noon. You see a strange bird circling and then diving at you. It looks like 75% Crow and 25% vulture(the size of a crow.) It trys to peck your eye out. Worse you feel a tug on your soul, as if it was trying to rip it out. You summon all your will and barely resist, you are at 1 pow, you manage to strangle bird. You have a nasty scar on your forehead over your left eys( to be continued)

Sigurd wipes the blood from his eyes. He thinks back to what the priests taught him. Even though Mighty Orlanth is of the Air he knows that birds are sacred to Yelmalio, child of Yelm the hated Sun Emperor. It is well known that when Orlanth was only 5 hours old he went on his first adventure where he defeated Yelmalio in a dancing contest. There fore he casts the birds carcass to the floor and dances around it praying first to Father Umath and then turning to the South West he prays for protection from Kero Fin wife of the Air. This done he ties a silver shilling on a leather thong and binds the dead things beak and takes it off, a little shakily looking for a Orlanthi temple to ask for a Divination. His +3 Pow and current score of 1 I shall add onto his sheet when I get around to filling it in. Nice start TMAO

The Orlanthi Temple goes berserk at your story! They throw out every one but you and send messages to gather the greatest of Users or magic in the city, they all begin to cast rituals of all kinds but mostly to penitarte the darkness that is inhabiting your soul. They tell you of the dark spirit of the bird living in you, giving some wicked a small entry into your soul

Sigurd looks hopelessly at the Priest. "What dark power would wish this upon me? I am a simple caravan guard, only an initiate of Mighty Orlanth. What must I do to recover both my Power and my soul?"

"The scar on your soul is the work of agency beyond our power to understand, we need to try an excorcism, go rest and return when you feel well or in 3 days. You go and calapse on your bed, Horrible dreams assail you, You are awaked in the very erly morning light you are at 1/3 POW and HP (which is far better than when you went to bed). You awaken seated at the rooms table, in your hand a quill. In front of you is a parchment that has runes you don't understand, but you feel you know what it says "You are mine

"I am cursed. Some evil power has it in for me and I feel terrible. But laying around here won't make things better. Like the wind I must go here and there until I find my enemy. First I best go to see if anyone has shown at the Lame Llama. I can not let Biturian head into the Dagori without guards. Even if I must pay in my own good silver."

You have a ferocious battle with the crow, knowing you are in a battle for your soul, you put everything into it. Crow gives up and disappears. But you know it is still there in th corner of your psyche..........

I awoke drenched in sweat. My spirit had driven off the darkness but not driven it out. I pulled on my clothes and buckled on my sword knowing no armour would protect me from this terrible foe. Crossing town I went in search of the Library of Lhankor Mhy seeking to find a sage to help. The God of Knowledge was a Lightbringer and so must aid if he can. I spent 17 Copper Clacks buying bees wax candles and a whole Silver Shilling on fine parchment to gain audience. Then as an initiate of a fellow Lightbringer cult I said the ritual poem.
"Breath is in everyone: All Air is your friend All Air must move for storm or breeze. Answer the call for assistance Then charge what is fair, in your eye. Pay all debts, even if they break you, Especially those gained in emergency. If you demand payment in your turn You will expect to be paid. Give freely! Do not break a friend. In emergencies a fair man will aid But take praise and cheers for pay. Do it free, they will too."
