Screaming back... I scored my netters, clubbers and third rock lobba today. Once I assemble the thing, it should be up.

Anyone ever played Gorkamorka*? If not, you can find the rules here, along with other GW games. *Basically, a WH40k sub-setting that players out like Mad Max with Orks, Grots, and human "Diggas" & "Muties", that is played with the Neromunda rules, with a greater of focus on vehicular combat.

Side-quest of Chaos Retinue. Not pictured are the *other* Chaos Marauder horsemen, which are more heavily equipped. Also missing is the Gor champion riding a mount for the Ungor unit. Aekold's retinue consists of the 10 man marauder unit, the rest are beastmen for the shaman in the chariot, and the horsemen and Marauder chariot are operating despite their missing brethren for the skinny guy riding Lucrezia's horse. That guy often pulls General duties. In this case he's equipped to cast spells on the cheap.

Mounted troops & chariots look so KEWL. They really add a whole new dimension to play too. Especially on a big table (which I know you have), where their manouverability comes to the for.

I mused upon a yardsale darkly. Then I named the men and beasts of my list. "Know ye now that the time of mortals has come to an end" Sorcerer Lord-The Last Electronic Repairman Heavy Marauder Horse Chaos Knight Leader-Surnigra Beastman Shaman on Chariot-Squiggleton "Macbeth" Arnold his crewman-Tingle Ungor unit champion-Clears Profits his Daemon Steed-Waffle 7000 Marauder infantry Chaos Warrior Leader-Colric
Glad you like the mobile elements, Chris. Methinks I need more Kislev Horsemen to convert into horsemen. Cuz I hate the new ones.

Here he is, Sorcerer Lord of Tzeentch with Sword of Unholy Power. Non-Citadel lead...got him as an adolescent, he always does well. IIRC back in 6th I called him Balsack like the GWAR dude.

Aekold shall soon have a lovingly overflocked base, in accordance with fluff.

Here's some assembled goblins of varied sorts. The yellow skinned ones are Iron Claws. Here you can see the Hydra-rider atop his charge, and some Orc stuff. Too unpainted as yet, but w/e. There's a lot of those 2 hand weapon orcs around...

Thanks Chris. I think maybe I might upgrade the attackers/defenders for hybrid 5th/3rd siege warfare to 4k/2k points, though. The keep's defenders are basically 6 knights, 20 archers and a unit of halberdiers. It's depressing to look at. Plus gotta actually build the y'know. On the other hand, it's just a manor fort

I took out the Tzeentchian Sorcerer Lord in favour of more chariots. Now I've got 4 in the list. There above is the new guy. Note the presence of Slaaneshi forces.

Here's a much less blurry image of the coolest dudes ever. I quite enjoy how they are not a bunch of green-skins like with all the Warhammer and Warcraft art. Flesh-tone Goblinoids always looks better to me.

So, in terms of O&G. I'm thinking tactically, that I'll make them a horde-style army, crashing in waves. Something along the lines of 4-5 goblin units as the first wave, then the orcs, maybe a Griffin rider general for flying high, some artillery pieces, and wolfriders for enemy flanking purposes, and whatever points left can be chariots and a level 2 orc shaman.
Sounds like fun to me.
Assuming at least 6 turns, of course.

Ah yes. You got me thinking about some of the big battles we had back in the 80's on the 10x4 board that Phil built at Adrian's house. Those were nice mixed affairs. Magic, hand to hand and missile all making their mark. The later smaller affairs tended to be settled by those with the best BS or best characters.... Is this true in later editions too?

Sounds like fun, Chris! The edition I'm geared for is smeared far and wide for being "Herohammer". I've never noticed the characters to be particularly egregious in it, though. There's more an interplay of counters. Back in the day my 20 man Chaos armies never fared too well against the massed ranks of decent troops. Just remember, chaos lords come in all shapes and sizes. I usually max out my character allotment, fwiw, though. But that's because I like personality figures. They cut all the flare and toggles from later editions. No longer is a chariot comprised of horses, crew and chassis. It's just a giant bore, at that point. There's no flying high. I wouldn't have gotten into Warhammer if it was what's present from 6th onwards alone. The uber characters, though, they're still there, in later editions. They're just more monothematic. I find there's like a hierarchy where the basic human infantry needs more support to be viable than say goblin cannon fodder or elites. I'll say that much. But all in all, characters are a gamble, and the list I was brainstorming isn't character heavy and seems good. There's also really potent counters to BS in 5th. Ah yes. You got me thinking about some of the big battles we had back in the 80's on the 10x4 board that Phil built at Adrian's house. Those were nice mixed affairs.
