#2.1 MONKISH COMBAT IN THE ARENA OF PROMOTION by John M. Seaton July 1976 Continuing this retrospective series, where we take a look at one Dragon article per day, here is an article that is near and dear to my heart. It's simply too bad that this concept wasn't continued on into AD&D -- in AD&D, the monkish combat for promotion is carried out via the standard combat rules. Anyway, with regards to this concept, here is the question: For those that play either: a) Forgotten Realms b) Dragonlance c) Greyhawk Do you have a list of higher-level monks for your settings? As well, keep in mind that there may be lengthy and dangerous journeys involved, and, do not forget the costs of training too! "Some of life's paths are more difficult than others. Often, the first step is the most difficult one to take." - Sayings of Mei Lei, Grand Master of Flowers
