Will you be including the +10% for now on or just last week? If I can suggest, leave it off, it's more confusing if you add it in.

Session #7: At last, the brave heroes have entered The Temple of Elemental Evil! Having fully explored the interior of the Temple itself, the party has descended into the dungeons below... THE PARTYTugeth, elf MU Elmo Gunth Luth Victor Slade Dick Knobby Foot (hobbit hireling) Elven Dog Throdrun Bloodfist, dwarf fighter, was left behind at Hommlet. TREASURE127 gp 295 cp 173 sp 5 ep 7 pp elfin chain (15#) XP810 each (base) With regards to the XP: 1556 (class-based awards) 2038 (monsters) 185 (treasure) __________ 3779 / 7 figures (Knobby is 0 level, and doesn't count) = 540 Add 270 (attendance) XP for a total of 810. It was decided that non-present players have their XP divided by 1/2. If you guys still decide to do this, then their characters would have a base of 405. That extra 405 is lost, not divided among the party. There have been threads about this over at Dragonsfoot, and this generally seems to be the way things are done. Also, I divide total XP by the number of figures in the party (ignoring 0 level types), so that is why the 3779 is divided by 7. On top of that 3779, each character was awarded 3500 (story award). Please do not forget that 3500 XP: including that, everyone got 4310 XP for the last session. As requested, I did not add in that 10% bonus. It took me about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get your XP totals done (not including .html prep work that I did on Sunday). That's fine with me, as I don't mind doing this, and I like to keep everything as accurate as possible. If you have any further questions, please send. As a final note, the class-based awards figures in a 430 XP fighter bonus (you guys took down 43 full HD of monsters), and, a 26 XP thief award (1/7th of the total value of found treasure). Again, all class-based awards are evenly distributed among all members of the party, in accord with Erik (Gunth's) excellent suggestion. Next session: May 20, 579 CY6:40 pm (1 hour 20 minutes left on your current flask of oil)

Sorry, why would the half share not go to the party members present? That does not seem to make any sense and feels rather arbitrary. The point of the non-present members (over 2 sessions) not getting a full share is that their characters were here but the players were not. If their characters were left in Hommlet then they would forfeit 100% but that does not mean that those who were on adventure would lose that 'share'. This really seems incorrect..... So if there are 7 characters, 6 of whom get full shares and 1 who does not, divide the xp 14 ways, give two shares to the 6, 1 to the 1 and then take the remainder and divide it 6 ways. It's not as if the xp was not earned....

Thanks for raising this issue -- I aim to keep the players happy. So... we will vote on the final division of XP next session. Or, better yet, everyone can place their votes here before Friday, which would be ideal. John Ps. Elmo has gained 5th level (that's from previous XP). He takes a full share, as he's not a henchman. Ps2. Current method of division of XP: XP is divided among the total # of figures in the group. Do not count 0 level figures (men-at-arms, most familiars, etc.). Example: 2 war dogs, 6 PCs, 2 henchmen, 5 0-level men-at-arms = 10 figures Assuming 10,000 XP -- that is a base 1000 XP for each. Of course, animals don't gain XP (they just eat a share), and, the henchmen have their shares "taxed" at 50%, leaving them with 500 each. That's just the current rule. Like any rule in the campaign, if you guys don't like it... then, please raise the issue, and it will be put to a vote! Ps3. The reasoning behind animals and henchmen eating up a share of XP is that they reduce the difficulty. This is especially significant with regards to war dogs in low-level groups. (Even the cooshee is a nastier fighter than Ben's MU, at present). The same applies for horses, too, but only for encounters in which the horses were involved. Ps4. Here is the Experience chapter from the DMG. It's annotated with comments from Gary Gygax, which are interesting to read. dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22333214/1/3dmg/experience.htm

Session #8:
The party continues with their exploration of Level 1, beneath the Temple.
THE PARTY Tugeth, elf MU Elmo Gunth Luth Victor Slade Dick Knobby Foot (hobbit hireling) 4 Men-at-Arms 1 Sailor
Elven Dog
Throdrun Bloodfist, dwarf fighter, was left behind at Hommlet.
TREASURE 4 pewter plates (actually tarnished silver), each worth 30 gp a large gold cup (450 gp) 112 gp 3 onyx gems (50 gp each) bloodstone (50 gp) 5 gp
XP 5636 total (base)
With regards to the XP: 1277 (class-based awards) 132 (prisoners) 3295 (monsters) 832 (treasure) 100 (XP left-over from last session, estimate) __________ = 5636 total
Divide this total among the 6 party members.
Add 240 (attendance) XP for each character.
Next session: May 25, 579 CY 4:20 pm (3 hours 40 minutes left on your current flask of oil)

Sorry John, who are the 6? It might be easier in the future if you divide Full XP PC's from hirelings, livestock and PC's on half-XP rations. Is Dick now considered Matt's character and we will not see Chris again, or will Dick be a half-XP character if and when Chris returns? This is just getting too confusing......

Hi, sorry, mea culpa. The problem was that I had forgotten who had played who (ie. which characters would get 1 share, and which characters would get 2 shares) -- I was waiting to ask you guys about this. That said, I had underestimated my diligent in-game note-taking. I had indeed had the information all the time! The 6 main heroes: * Tugeth - B * Elmo - E * Gunth - E * Luth - B * Victor Slade - M * Dick - M Key: B = Benjamin, E = Erik, M = Matt * Tugeth --> 2 shares * Elmo --> 2 shares * Gunth --> 2 shares * Luth --> 1 share * Victor --> 2 shares * Dick --> 1 share Total: 10 shares Please let me know if I have this right, and if this is acceptable to you. Personally, I prefer all figures above level 0 taking an even share, but the group voted on the concept of 1/2 shares, so I am wrapping my head around this, trying to get things right. Total average XP for each character will be close to 1000 XP for the last session, that is my guess. Some will have more, some will have less, since our group decided to implement 1/2 shares. Hope this made a bit more sense. A bit nervous, DM Prespos PS. Dick will be a 1/2 XP character -- Chris can't make it, because of time-zone issues.
