Here, imagine what kind of hero you would like to be.
Choose your race and class.
If you're demi-human, use Method I for your ability scores.
If you're human, use Method V for your ability scores.
Note that this is a slight divergence from BtB AD&D, where, according to Unearthed Arcana, one has to roll their social class first, that result being the determinant of what classes one can enter to.
Ps2. RACE
You've already chosen your race, so just take a bit of time to review and note down your racial details.

Ps7. MAGICK
If you are a MU or Illusionist, determine your cantrips. This is difficult, and, time-consuming.

With clerics, it's a bit easier.

Ps10. PSIONICS
Although Gary hated Psi, I've retained it. Roll d100.
Everything here is By The Book, with the exception of the implementation of Social Class.
In BtB AD&D one rolls for social class, first, and that is the determinant of who one can be.
I've changed this rule, as I think that it is a monkey wrench in the flow of character generation. I hope that it's a change that I've made in the spirit of the rules. That said, I have not dropped social class.
