Preface: What follows is a rough copy. For this thread, please refrain from name-calling and hateful comments. I am only asking. I am an advocate of Free Speech/Expression, The final decision of what to post is in your hands, not mine.

The thing about the Islamic State is that it is a return to pure 7th century Sunni Islam.
There is an interesting story here. Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi, when he was a kid, he would organize the prayers for the other kids, bassically. He was something special, something different.
He majored in Islamic Studies, and, he was considered a prodigy, more knowledgeable than his professors.
The 2003 invasion of Iraq destabilized the region. Abu-Bakr was sent to jail. Incarceration only increased the faith of the faithful.
Eventually, he would found the Islamic State (former ISIS/ISIL/Daesh).
Let's go back to the years around the 632. Abu-Bakr was one of the companions of Muhammad (companions = sort of like armed apostles, perhaps). After Muhammad(PBUH) 's death, some went back to the traditional Arab ways. However, the penalty for leaving Islam is death. So begins the Apostasy War: the Muslims are victorious!
After Abu-Bakr is Omar(Umar). Perhaps one of the most influential men in history. With his general Khalid (The Sword of Allah), he went forth and conquered. A wave of conquest like that of Alexander the Great. The big difference is that Omar's conquests have stood the test of time. Where are Alexander the Great's conquests, today?
PS.
This is a rough copy. Small details might not be accurate.
Please let me know if there are any errors.
