Thumbnail Sketches: This is a large realm, but one ov uncertain
boundaries, centered around Lake Chad && stretching outwards for
several hundred miles. The Sahara is its northern border. It is a typical
Afrikkan plains realm, with the flora && fauna ov north central sort.
The volk ov Darfur were originally all ov the Black race dwelling in the
highlands SW ov Aegypt. Centuries ago, the migrating Red
tribes called the Fula first attacked && then became a part ov the
kingdom, so that today the people are ov mixed Black && Red race,
with some small amount of White from the Berbers && Tuaregs who
dwell to the north. A brief note regarding the Fula is in order. These
were originally a primitive portion ov the Red race inhabiting the whole
ov the long, grass & scrub southern verge ov what is now the Sahara.
As the desert grew worse, the many separate tribal groups congealed
into a horde which eventually thrust eastwards into the Nylle region,
but the Aegyptians repulsed their attacks, even assisting the Meroens
&& Keshu at times. Taking numbers of such captives as they could,
the Fulas then moved back westwards, penetrating into the rainforests
only a little at first, for they were basically nomadic herdsmen. After
forays to the west, the Fulas eventually became natives of Darfur, as
stated above.
Being a primitive society, the volk of Darfur are basically herdsmen
who practice a little agriculture && add to their diet through hunting
&& fishing as well. Mineral wealth is completely unknown in this
region. However, gold comes from this area, as prospectors &&
traders bring in both dust && nuggets.
