So guys what are your favorite CRPG's?
I probably couldn't live without: Wasteland the goldbox games, bard's tale 1,2 and 3. Ultima 1 through 6 Ultima underworld Betrayal at krondor.

I've always wanted to try the bard's tale construction set also. Sort of the unlimited adventures game creator but for the bards tale engine.

I'm pretty new to computer games. I was introduced to them by a pal and his wife maybe four or five years ago whilst visiting them in Switzerland. The game was called Oblivion and on my return home I bought a play station machine so I could have a bash, I loved it! I now have... Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim Dragon Age I, II, III Dragon's Dogma (completely unplayable, Harpies keep killing me). I enjoy them but find that days can fly past without even leaving the house once I get stuck in. Very addictive.

Bard's Tale Construction Set is quite a lot better than FRUA as a construction kit. It actually has a simple scripting language, while FRUA only works with very simple flags, so you can pull off much more interesting stuff with it. Never gotten very deep into it myself, it's been something I have been wanting to give a shot though. Another bonus is that you can compile the adventures you make with BTCK into standalone programs you can run without needing the construction kit itself.
Anyway, favourite computer RPGs?
Wasteland - a very, very important game. Basically introduced the use of skills/abilities/items to solve puzzles in the game, many of which have multiple solutions. Great system (based on Tunnels & Trolls/Mercenaries, Spies & Private Eyes), a darn immersive and large gameworld for a game that old and Finster's Mind Maze is still one of my favourite bits of gaming, ever. There's so much stuff in the game that you might miss. And who doesn't love the Massacre at Camp Highpool?
Ultima IV - another important and awesome game, with the introduction of "role playing" in the form of the Virtues and pretty much the first game that actively wanted YOU to assume the role of the PC you are running in the game. I could write more about this, but then I found Ultima V.
Ultima V - my favourite game of all time, probably. One of the very first games I ever bought with my own money for the C64, took me 13 years to actually finish it without any outside help. So yeah, mechanically improved from Ultima IV, not as "roleplaying" oriented but still extremely immersive game. And I loved the idea of the corrupted virtues, like Honesty: Thou shalt not lie, or thou shalt lose thy tongue. Lord Blackthorn really didn't fuck about while British was missing. He laid down the LAW. Later Ultimas got even more immersive, but to me, Warriors of Destiny was the high point.
Goldboxes - yeah, everyone loves them. Good fun. Especially Pool of Radiance, which runs like a computer simulation of a real tabletop campaign - a quite rare thing. Simple and combat oriented, but that's why they are D&D at its best.
Final Fantasy VI - the steampunk one. WIth the Opera bit. Yay.
King of the Dragon Pass - not quite a full RPG, but with a lot of RPG style gameplay mixed with resource management and whatnot. Excellent production values (music and beautifully painted art), immersive gameplay and goddamn Glorantha put to good use.
Planescape Torment - very well written game, probably one of the best storylines and characters in computer games. It's quite close to a graphical adventure instead of usual combat oriented RPG so it's a refreshing change from the norm. And Planescape rocks as a setting.
ADOM - my favourite roguelike. Needed to list one roguelike and ADOM takes the cake for polish and options and variety. Omega could have won, but it has a horrid inventory management UI.
Others worth a mention:
Other Ultimas, except IX Eternal Sonata Bard's Tales Wizardry VI - VIII (didn't like the early ones that much) Might & Magic - World of Xeen (the combo version of IV and V) Shining in the Darkness Phantasie III Temple of Elemental Evil (would be higher if it wasn't a bug ridden mess) System Shock Dungeon Master Lands of Lore Shadowrun (both old console versions and the new Shadowrun Returns) Jagged Alliance 2
