I cheat a bit, and use the S&W white box or the full S&W rulebook (which is OD&D but with less rich, cryptic writing.)
Just curious what other people play?

I've never played S&W, but I'd love to try it.
I'm open to any edition of (A)D&D, but I do tend to have a fondness for the earlier editions.
Hopefully, I can get into an online game of S&W one day, and try it out!

Same as Pres.
I think by now I've played every incarnation of D&D, and like all of them.
If I was forced to only stick to one kind....I think I'd most likely go with 1E as a player, but BECMI as a DM.
The REALLY old stuff I've only had recent exposure to.

I'm guessing you mean like, lbb + Greyhawk + Blackmoor + Supp. + Strategic Review, etc...?
Personally I prefer to just use the LBB's, add and revise the thief from Greyhawk (Magic-User HD progression, Cleric Combat Table, LotFP d6 thieve's skills).
If I want to play with all the supplement classes, I'll use Swords & Wizardry Complete.
If I have new players, I'll use S&W: Whitebox since it is simpler to understand.

Yes Dizzy, that is what I meant.
I gone to S&W whitebox as it more coherent then the LBB.

For OD&D, I would use anything and everything from the official rules, with the exception of the Blackmoor combat system, as written. To me, that was the worst rule in OD&D. I don't know, maybe I'd reserve that one for critical hits ONLY.
I've thought about playing OD&D with all the articles from The Dragon. It would be interesting to see it all compiled, though it would probably turn out as a variant of AD&D.
And yes, although I've never read/played S&W, I'm sure that it's a lot more coherent than OD&D as is!
Have fun, Pres

S&W is much less cryptic! I'm not sure I would have gotten into OD&D without the help of whitebox. Seems like more and more OD&D clones are coming out all of the time too. I usually run using Greyharps OD&D compiled, as it's only one book, and it's organized a bit better than the lbbs. Same cryptic text though, but the organization helps a lot!

At this stage in my gaming life, I can honestly say, reading/understanding/utilizing the LBBs + supps is not an issue anylonger. They work fine. Just can't get folks together willing to throw only six siders!

I've reffed 0e when I finally got PDFs of the LBBs from DriveThru a few years back (yes they were legally bought), but the LBBs left me thick. Although I've had Greyhawk, Blackmoor & Eldritch Wizardry since the early 80's, but never really used them in BX, since I already had the AD&D rules.
I've always ran a BX/AD&D1e mix, tried the RC/AD&D2 for awhile in the 90's, but it just didn't seem like 1e. I'd go back to BX/AD&D1e in a heartbeat, but NOW, I'd love to run 0e+Supplements using the "Single Volume" Edition with Frazetta art. I'd start with Holmes for new players, and move them into 0e & the Supplements over time, by 3rd level, they'd have all the Supplement classes available to them, along with all the other classes I've built or snagged from many lovely folks on the interwebs.

In all honesty, the best combo is the burger, fries, coke at Carl's Jr.
