Because someone( who shall not be named although they are a fucking asshole) put a foul name on the boards today I thought it would make a good subject. what are some D&D critters you just hate? I'll start.. - The god damned flumph..fuck I hate those goofy bastards. They look stupid, they act stupid and they just annoy the fuck out of me.
- Green slime and other Auto death critters: They are simply stupid IMO and are there to ramp up the GM's body count and add nothing worthwhile to the game.
- Plaid/mauve/ sunset orange or whatever the fucking dragon of the week is. We do not need 256 shades of fucking dragon.

Thanks Seeker. Honestly, I don't hate any of the monsters in (A)D&D. They are all God's children, and I preach Universal Love towards all monsters. Hug a monster, Prespos PS. Seek, I think you forgot to add the Throat Leech to your list!

I think Kobolds, Goblins, Orcs, Hobgoblins, Knolls, Bugbears, etc. are all overrated! Ooooh!!! Big, ugly, barbaric buggy-men! Run for your lives! The Goblins, Orcs and Hobgoblins in the MMI reads the same: savages who attacks everyone, including each other; averstion to sunlight to the point of blindness; they eat/rape/enslave people (in any older); a percentile range of weapon-use (that somehow forgets armor); tribal communities with cool-ass names; tribes with command groups, riding beasts and/or support brutes. The funny thing is, one could easily replace them with human bandits, savages, unruly soldiers, etc., and nothing is lost by that! The difference between them are slight. They differ only in slight stats builds, and some cosmetic differences that means nothing to me. Do I make the Orcs Tolkienesque pigsface types, the WoW/WHFB-styled greenskins with massive under-bites, do I make them like the naked, one-eyed wigglers form the UK Basic rulebook, or do I make-up my own details? Do I make the Bugbears the scarecrows form the OD&D books, the bandy-legged Wookies from the MMI book, like the Darkstalkers form the FF, or do I make-up my own details? For me, I would rather have them as an open-ended class of monster rolled-up like Demons from Appendix D, from the old DMG, as I could could have a wide assortment of "Goblinoid" monsters to keep the players on their toes.

Interesting question.
I sort of agree with Pres (without the hippy emphasis!).
As a player though, I'm going to echo what Seeker said about Green Slime. I'd also add things like Disenchanters, Rust Monsters.....and the undead thing that teleports players (Crypt Thing?).
HATE - TELEPORT!!!

I've faced down all 4 of those monsters, just in the past year!
Green Slime in Ath's game. Disenchanter and Rust Monster in Chris's game. Crypt Thing in Thork's game.
From a player/character point of view, yes, those monsters can be nasty.
From a DM point of view, I'm not too fond of the Disenchanter or Level-draining Undead (assuming one plays level drain BtB). These are monsters that should be used sparingly, if at all.
Prespos
PS. A good fix for level drain can be found in REF5 Lords of Darkness. Take the list and make it into a d10 table of effects (maybe with 10 as "no effect"). Roll twice if the creature drains 2 levels. Using this rule seems to make level-draining undead a lot more fun to encounter. You never know what's going to happen!

I will agree with those as well Huthor. I used the crypt thing recently not thinking it would be too bad. It almost lead to a TPK and I kinda hand waved the party finding its way back. I would never use that thing again. I will also agree i hate level drain and would not use it.

HATE - TELEPORT - AND - LEVEL DRAIN. On a slightly related side note - some of the mini-adventures/lairs in LoD are great stuff to run.
