You head up the spiral staircase, worn smooth by the passing of countless feet. A door blocks your way, this time much stouter and well fitting. You hear scrambling from beyond....

Plonk is still a bit hazed from the nap. He thinks about setting the whole place on fire so they can go home already and see to the Donkey.
"Should we set this place on fire?"

Malcazar - "Well, this tower is mostly made of stone so it can't be burnt down. One of you fine lads wearing protective casing should open that next door and we'll rush em'"

"If we have oil, we could at least set the stairs on fire..."
Plonk stays at the back of the group, pondering arson.

Noggin looks a bit scarred with all this talk of fire around the wonderful cloth. If none of the big folk look likely to open the door soon he will give it a bash..

As no one else seems keen Noggin will bash his tiny shoulder against the door. At first bouncing off he opens it on the second roll. Alas a trap had been laid and failing to dodge Noggin is struck on the head by a falling rock for 6HP damage. 4/12HP. Poor Noggin! Beyond the door is a garishly furnished room. Tartan carpet on the floor and tartan wall hangings. A big bed (with tartan bed spread and pillow covers) a table spread with a tartan cloth and matching napkins (these have silver napkin rings) and a big chest complete the picture. However what you notice most is the figure fleeing up the spiral stairs opposite and through the open door onto the roof! www.smallfilms.co.uk/noggin/nogbad.jpgNogbad legs it!

"Surrender, villain! You have nowhere to run!", Plonk yells at the fleeing figure. Time to parlay - slaying goblins is one thing, but to avoid spilling blood of even low scum like Nogbad is always good.

Noggin spends the next 15 minutes telling Plonk about tartan as Malcazar searches the room. The napkin rings are silver and shaped like ravens 6 X 10GP each A silver cigarette box engraved with 'Happy 21st Nogbad. Your loving brother Noggood' worth 25GP A raven feather cloak with black silk lining - 30GP The chest contains 6 small sacks each containing 100SP A leather pouch which holds 50GP A silk purse wrapped in a black and white woolen scarf has 3 aquamarines in it. Total value 150GP 3 scrolls 1) Cure Serious Wounds 2) Reincarnation (MU) Power Word Stun and Web 3) Restoration and Protection from Evil 10't A Shillelagh. Made of fine oak and wrapped in mistletoe. A permanent version of the 1st level Druid spell. And 11 jars of marmalade. Eventually you wander up to the roof and find only a knotted length of rope hanging from the battlements. Nogbad has escaped. You load the cart up with all the valuable cloth, hitch up a much happier donkey and plod back to Noggod's farm. There are great celebrations including green jelly and ice cream. Beer flows and Mrs. Noggod takes measurements and orders for what ever tartan garments you would like making. You can feast for a couple of weeks while they are expertly made. During this time Donkey is made well. His hooves trimmed and polished and his coat brushed until it shines. Eventually on a very cold December morning it is time for you all to leave. You trundle down to the docks in the rikety cart and join the SS Peregrine bound Southwards after Noggin kisses his Mum goodbye. The whole family waves you off with their colourful scarves. Omega Everyone gains a level

Plonk is content with some marmalade. He spends as much time with the Donkey as he can, while being repeatedly told what tartan is by someone. And when finally on board with SS Peregrine, he has already forgotten what the stylish looking cloth Noggin's family had was called. OOC: Yay! Thanks for the adventure, Chris. Twas fun Will we see Nogbad in the future one of these days? Guess we got our first potential recurring villain. Guess it's time for my small dunjon next, gonna need a couple of days for schoolwork, and then we are off.

We may yet see Nogbad, the wicked creature, in the future...
Oh and Noggin has a smart tartan jacket tailored. It has lots of useful pockets in it and is reinforced with leather making it the equivelant of AC 7. All garments made for you are water and wind proof and will last a very long time. They give the wearer +1 on saves v cold based attacks.

Malcazar - enjoys the Hobbit party and eats and drinks too much. He would ask for a tartan wizard hat to be made that he can wear to special wizard balls and formal gatherings.
Thanks Chris fun game. I will await the next game and roll up 3rd lvl hit points etc.

After leaving Noggin's family, you board the ship back home. Another group of passengers is also onboard - a young nobleman, by the looks of him, his elderly manservant and a robed, bearded pointy-hatted fella who is no doubt the magic-user of the retinue. When the magician notices Malcazar boarding, he nods slightly in recognition of a fellow student of the arcane.
It's a beautiful day, sun and all. Fair winds. Irritating seagulls. What next?
OOC: Chris and Huthor, remember to level up your dudes...

OOC - changes made on first page for levelling. Noggin only keeps 10GP and 10SP. He gives his mum the decorative box, his sister the posh red cape and the rest of his share of the loot (except the gaseous form potion) to his dad to help with stuff at home.
Noggin revels in the sea journey. He smiles broadly at every one and gives a friendly wave to the new Mage (never hurts to keep on the good side of wizards after all).

He holds out his tiny paw to the enchanter. "Hello sir, I'm Noggin. My friend Malcazar is a great wizard. Perhaps you know him?"

Malcazar - Greets the fellow boat people cordially. He gives the other Magic User the secret wizard hand shake.
"Say, where do you all hail from? We have had some adventures of late and seek more. They are kind of addicting you know. Then there was this one time that I put a whole room full of goblins under a sleep spell and and...."

OOC: Updated Character Sheet on first page - don't need any loot, but if nobody minds, can I take the Cure Serious Wounds scroll?
Gerin only listens to the inane chatter with half an ear. He's beginning to recall why he hated the ship voyage out - trapped on board with endless small talk.
This is not what he had in mind when he first left the temple to take up adventuring.
Idly, he wondered how his aging mentor was doing. No doubt boring some poor acolyte with a speech extolling the marvels of diligent broom work while sweeping the temple steps.
Two Magic Users on the ship has made him feel slightly more sour than usual. Hearing Malcazar relate the goblin incident causes him to spit over the railing.
Generally, he prefers to pick his own nap hours.
Turning from the endless view of the ocean, he sizes up the noble. The nobility never tend to be that impressive. Over-rich fops who leave all the real work to the common folk like himself, while seizing all the credit when anything goes well.

As you mingle with the young noble and his retinue, you find out that he's one Preston Caldwell of the merchant house Caldwell. He introduces his companions as Blazapp the Magician and Igor. They were on the islands on a quest to find a rare prismatic gem for the collection of Preston's family. When Malcazar makes an inquiry about adventures the nobleman seems to think for a while. "Well, to be honest, we lost a couple of good men on our last adventure... may the Lords of Law watch over their souls... so yes, there might be work available for sellswords. You should come with me to meet my father once we get back to mainland, so we can talk things over."
After the offer is made Preston excuses himself to his cabin, taking Igor with him.
