Sounds like a fun short game. I'd play it if it's put together.

Sounds like a fun short game. I'd play it if it's put together. Cool man, yeah might have to make this into a pbp. The character names could all be banned former members from DF, Kent, kewlmarine, paladins angel etc. - they would be on a quest to find Prespos in his legendary tower and seek out his wisdom. I hope they are not disappointed when they get there

A public square: in city center where the gallows pole, stockades and animal fighting arena are A supposedly abandoned ruined brothel, 10 k out of town, hit by a meteorite 500 years ago large public baths OK, Mullman, as the saying goes, "you've hit a nerve", there... Simply, talk of The Gallow's Pole. See Crypt of the Shadowking, pages 99-101. Plot: A facist government conquers the independent city-state of Iriaebor. Characters: Bron, The Zhentarim (secret society), The folk of the Inn of the Sleeping Dragon. Setting: The city of Iriaebor, c. 1360 DR. A great novel, and, this is the hometown of Prespos. The origin of the name Prespos comes from the Forgotten Realms, Iriaebor -- see Forgotten Realms Adventures, page 90. Note that Prespos is not mentioned in the novel, but, guys, that is the origin of my name. Thanks to either/or Jeff Grubb and/or Ed Greenwood for my name. Anyway, with regards to the Gallow's Pole: This is a traditional folk song, and it holds a deep place in my heart. Hmm, silver & gold. The justice of the rich. Hmm. I am tempted to ask y'all to play this one, four times, at my funeral, while I get buried into the Earth. Prespos of Iriaebor PS. mullman, great ideas... keep 'em comin'...

I don't know much about B/X or LL. I'll claim set 3: STR 11, DEX 10, CON 17, INT 13, WIS 15, CHA 11 , and I'll be the cleric. I just need some guidance.

Click on that link above and download the free LABYRINTH LORD pdf ruleset. Go towards the beginning to the cleric desc and read it. Choose which spells to pary for for the day. Roll 2d6x10 and that is your starting gold. Shop for equip and armor and weapons. Calculate your AC and roll for hit points (2nd level)
If you don't know how to do these basic things you should learn

Late September 1982 Calgary AB
A group of 4 high school friends, you have some beers and weed and set out to the local fair/carnival. The weather grows windy and the shadows lengthen. You end up walking into 'The Funhouse' , walk down some mirrored halls and begin to feel lost. Thunder crashes and lightning strikes, a puff of smoke..
An overwhelming thought enters your brains as you drift through time and space, 'you must seek out Prespos and ask his insight into the meaning of life'
You find yourself on a quest. Waking up in a pile of refuse wearing strange armors and scabbards etc.

When not in his tower. Prespos can often by found lurking in this degenerate pit. A real hive of scum & villainy.

That's not the Queen's Head in Toronto? The interwebs lied to me! I'm tempted to S: 14 IQ: 7 W: 16 Dex:13 Con: 17 Cha: 16 Alignment: for the little folk LG. with regards to humanity CE. HP 2d6+4 Weapon: long barbed fork (2-7 +1 for strength) for prodding the big people. Armour Class: VERY thick skinned treat as plate mail -1 for dexterity = 2 A dim but attractive lay-dee, Paladine's Angel. Who I miss at DF by the way. This Hobbit will be very much of the 'No Prisoners!' type, and will hate all the tall races with a passion. She has surprisingly pretty feet.

The trash heap you are in appears muted, as though it has slightly melted and you can see pockets of steam. It is muggy here in Presposia and the air thick and smells faintly of ammonia.
An ominous group of clouds can be seen to the east rolling in, they are an unhealthy nicotine yellow.
There are rolling hills of garbage strewn in every direction. Far to the north on the horizon you can see a few dark spots. It appears to be mid day here.

Paladine's Angel hawkes up a gob of spittle and pokes any near by humans with her barbed fork. She speaks (in a broad Somerset accent) "This don't look good."

Temp NPCs (anyone can join in anytime)
Kent finds himself atop the pile of refuse, wrinkles his nose at the scent of ammonia, "Well, I don't like the looks of those clouds, maybe we should seek shelter?"
Kewlmarine - "Can't believe we ended up in the middle of a dump, bummer dude.."
Bloom - "Let us advance closer to those dots on the horizon, they may be dinosaurs or perhaps taverns."

As you collect your wits and seek out towards the dotted horizon Kent loses his footing in the mushy garbage causing a small gaseous spore to rise. It pops a dry orange dust
You travel on a few clicks and the dots become a jagged skyline

PA complains bitterly at the clumsy Humans. Proding them occasionally with her long handled fork. She looks around for a sharp rock to hurl at the Gas Spore.

The burnt orange spore pops nearby smelling of formaldehyde and leaving those within breathing radius (all you blokes) with a state of minor hallucinogenic, as if you just took a weak ass 60's tab of LSD.
You stumble on towards the 'dots' on the horizon thinking weird thoughts and suddenly it is starting to get dark. It is the outline of a decent sized City you are walking towards.
As it gets dark the drug wears off leaving you all thirsty and with headaches. A rather unimpressive guard shack sits outside the City gate which is lit by braziers and torches on poles.
A fat man with a dark unkept beard argues nearby the guard shack with two nefarious looking guys that are dragging a dead man sized octopus. One carries a bow. They are arguing about permits and tariffs
