Do anyone use the Heromachine character creator for their PCs and/or NPCs? For those do don't know, Heromachine — currently on its third version — is a Flash-based character creator, originally designed to create custom superheroes (in an old-school comic book style), but since expanded to by usable for nearly any genre. This system is basically an electronic Paper Doll suite. The first version was limited to what you can make, and was more a testbed. (You could also load this one in your computer, as a .SWF, to use without a net connection.) The second version was a complete version of the first, but with a wider range of styles and options. This is a good suite for beginners and quick designs, but do not allow for advanced options. The third and current version offers a wider range of options, including the ability to move, rotate and resize parts, as well as to add custom colors, alter transparency and to merge two objects by "masking" one to the other. The degree of options allowed creative users to do things that the program was never intended for, and folk have made some fantastic creations that goes beyond generic builds! I'm talking about dynamic poses and the use of gradients objects to create the effects of light and shadow. (This guy made some great videos on it) Here is a rather basic, by-the-numbers HS creation (for when you need a character): And here is a HM creations that was created with advanced techniques (and lots of time and effort): Note: None of these are my creations.

As noted before, the above images are not mine. But I do have ones of my own, so here are a few (enjoy): This one not my first, but its one of my earliest from years back on HM2. Being HM2, its as basic as you can get — great for beginners or quick creations. Its Conan, the "Damnest Bastard that Ever Lived" (or one of his *many* clones), ready to kick ass and shit lightning for breakfast.
This one was just made, while fooling around with the lighting techniques on HM3. (Each gleam and shadowing are individual shapes with gradient and transparent forms.) Making something this complex is not easy, and the limits with the program forces you to get *really* creative with whats available. It is neat how there are people with little or no artistic skills like myself are able to create thing like this (well, not exactly as this, but you get the point). Its is a woman sunbathing on a beach as God intended (or at least, sunbathers where I grew-up at... more or less). Edited at the request of Proboards Oh yeah, it might not be safe for work (cartoon tits or something).

I've used this before. I think it's awesome. I didn't realize they'd updated it to version 3 now. Even better!

Hi Mal, sorry, my sincere apologies again. Proboards has ROBOTS that DETECT BOOBS. Sorta like in the Terminator movies, I guess. I got another warning, again. Yeah, those sorry faggots would do that. Please, don't compare our favorite autonomous robotic organisms to those soulless drones. Those bitches are getting on my nerves! If the internet allowed people to "reach out and touch someone", I would slap them around like a two-bit hooker, and have them chock on by bloated dick!
